It’s Rosh Hashanah at Benjies NY Deli in Santa Ana This Weekend!

Rosh Hashanah is just a few days away, and if you’re looking for a place to celebrate this holiday, Benjies Deli should be your destination. We have been serving traditional Jewish food in Santa Ana every single day since we opened our doors in 1967. We also cater traditional foods, too, and our Seder plates are always popular in the spring. If you’re having a celebration for Rosh Hashanah, let Benjies Deli cater with your favorite Jewish menu items while you take all the credit!

Our list of traditional favorites on the Benjies menu would make your mother very happy, and you too, if you can’t get home to her cooking. What will tempt your tastebuds? We have four soups to choose from: our famous matzo ball; chicken soup with noodles, rice or kasha varnishkas; sweet and sour cabbage soup with chunks of beef; and finally our special “Mish Mosh, It’s a Meal!” soup, a bowl full of a matzoh ball, kreplach, rice, noodles, chicken and carrots all snug in our freshly made chicken stock.

If you’re looking for fish instead of soup, we have a treat for you. We have more than the usual Nova lox, we also have barbeque cod and whitefish, all served with sliced tomato, cream cheese, Greek olives and an onion bagel. Did you ever think you’d see creamed or pickled herring on an Orange County menu? Here it is, served with your choice of onions and sour cream or wine sauce and rye bread to sop up every drop.

Even goyim can’t decide to order potato latkes or knishes—why? They tell us it’s because they’re both so good! Two golden brown potato pancakes served with apple sauce or sour cream are a superb treat, and yet the meat or potato knishes in their baked pastry is hard to resist! Don’t miss the stuffed cabbage rolls in their traditional, tangy sweet and sour sauce made just like mom used to. We won’t tell if you find ours just a little better than hers. Shhhh!

But for Rosh Hashanah, we’re serving up a special dinner after sundown on Sunday the 16th and Monday the 17th. Choose from our delicious roast chicken (customers beg us to serve this all year round!) or brisket of beef. Once you’ve made that choice, you get a set of special extras: potato kugel, vegetables, matzoh ball soup, rye bread and butter, and all washed down with some delicious sponge cake. All this for just $14.99 per person! (You can even get it to go for a dollar more!)

What are you waiting for? Get to Benjies Deli now to taste some of those Jewish favorites you haven’t had in years—we promise that they’ll taste just as delicious as mom made them! And if you’re planning a family get together or party for Rosh Hashanah, make sure you call Benjies two to three days in advance to place your order. Call Lloyd or Noriko Weinstein on (714) 541-6263 for any and all catering needs, or to book the Bamboo Lounge for your private party.
