Hanukkah is almost upon us, and what a wonderful time of year it is! Some people just treat themselves to their favorite Jewish dishes at the holidays, and we want them all to know that we serve most of them all year round. That’s right—have latkes any day of the week at Benjies. We’ve got them any time you want them.

What else does Benjies Deli have in the way of the traditional Jewish dishes? Well, we don’t want to brag, but your mother would be proud of our menu. Start with some noshing—who doesn’t love some noshing while catching up with friends or relatives? (more…)

Happy Chanukah—Benjies Deli Has Everything You Need

If you’ve been waiting for Chanukah to indulge in some latkes, now is the time. We do have them every day of the week at Benjies, but now is the time to really go for it and savor those delicious potato pancakes! Why not get some pastrami too, and sandwich it between two latkes? Hmmm, we might need to talk to the chef about putting that on the menu…

Come in tonight for our mouthwateringly tender brisket dinners, and our long-awaited roast chicken, which customers have been begging us to put on the normal menu. But we like to keep it for special occasions, like Chanukah and Yom Kippur. (more…)

Happy Hanukkah! Celebrate with Your Traditional Jewish Food Favorites Right Here in Orange County!

Menorah

Hanukkah is here, and it’s time to celebrate. Benjies Deli has been serving traditional Jewish food in Santa Ana every day since we opened in 1967. We also cater traditional foods, too, and can make party food and deli platters for your event. Why not let Benjies Deli do all the cooking while you take the credit?

We have a huge list of traditional favorites on the Benjies menu, but we’ve listed a few of them here to tempt your tastebuds. Looking for a little noshing? It’s all in our Appetizers & Noshes section of the menu. Under the category of fish, we have Nova lox, barbeque cod or whitefish served with sliced tomato, cream cheese, Greek olives and an onion bagel; creamed or pickled herring served with your choice of onions and sour cream or wine sauce and rye bread to sop up every drop; or go hardcore with gefilte fish served with julienne carrots, horseradish and Benjies’ soft rye bread. Yom Kippur This Saturday, and Benjies Deli Has Your Favorites

While it’s customary to fast on Yom Kippur, we at Benjies Deli like to concentrate on the eating part—that is, the pre-fast meals and the post-fast meals. And we’ve got everything you need for those meals, whether you come in to Benjies to enjoy them, or we bring them to your door. We’ve been doing this since we opened in 1967, so we know a thing or two about traditional Jewish food!

Before the fast, we recommend our chicken soup with your choice of noodles, rice or kasha varnishkas, which comes in small or large sizes. Sharing with a special someone? We serve a “for two” meal that’s perfect for the Meal of Cessation (Seudat Mafseket), which usually calls for boiled chicken. But boiled chicken sounds boring, but not our Chicken in a Pot: half a chicken served in a tureen with matzoh balls, kreplach, noodles, rice and carrots, all swimming in delicious chicken broth. Hmmm, maybe you don’t want to share after all? If red meat strikes your fancy, we’ve also got Ribs in a Pot, which are deliciously tender short ribs in with the same goodies. And don’t miss our special “Mish Mosh, It’s a Meal!” soup, a bowl full of a matzoh ball, kreplach, rice, noodles, chicken and carrots all snug in our freshly made chicken stock. (more…)
