Hanukkah is almost upon us, and what a wonderful time of year it is! Some people just treat themselves to their favorite Jewish dishes at the holidays, and we want them all to know that we serve most of them all year round. That’s right—have latkes any day of the week at Benjies. We’ve got them any time you want them.

What else does Benjies Deli have in the way of the traditional Jewish dishes? Well, we don’t want to brag, but your mother would be proud of our menu. Start with some noshing—who doesn’t love some noshing while catching up with friends or relatives? (more…)

Benjies Deli: Spooky Catering Ideas for Halloween Parties

It’s that time of year again, and many people’s favorite time of year. The air gets crisper, the leaves start changing, and in Southern California, we might even have to throw on a sweater and trade the flip-flops for sneakers. It’s also Halloween, where visions of bags full of candy dance in the heads of young children, while adults dream up that perfect outfit for the costume party.

And since Halloween is on a Wednesday this year (which means the Day of the Dead is on Thursday), we’ve really got two weekends to celebrate, and that’s no bad thing. Well, it is if you’re the one putting on the parties! But you shouldn’t worry—Benjies New York Deli is here to provide all the perfect party food while all you have to do is open a few bottles of spirits and mixers and make sure there’s plenty of ice. (Dry ice too, if it’s that kind of scary party!) (more…)

Happy Chanukah—Benjies Deli Has Everything You Need

If you’ve been waiting for Chanukah to indulge in some latkes, now is the time. We do have them every day of the week at Benjies, but now is the time to really go for it and savor those delicious potato pancakes! Why not get some pastrami too, and sandwich it between two latkes? Hmmm, we might need to talk to the chef about putting that on the menu…

Come in tonight for our mouthwateringly tender brisket dinners, and our long-awaited roast chicken, which customers have been begging us to put on the normal menu. But we like to keep it for special occasions, like Chanukah and Yom Kippur. (more…)

Watch the Pittsburgh Steelers at Benjies Deli this Sunday

Now that Hanukkah is over, we can get back to the important things in life. This weekend, there’s another great lineup of bone-crushing NFL football to watch. But unless you’ve got Sunday Ticket, you could miss your favorite team, and that’s no good at all.

So why not get down to Benjies Deli and settle in at the Bamboo Lounge for six screens of awesome, high-definition football with their DirecTV Sunday Ticket lineup? You’ll get to eat all of Benjies’ superb food–and remember, those Jewish favorites like latkes and brisket are still being served, even after Hanukkah‘s over–and take advantage of the Bamboo Lounge’s full bar. It’s nearly impossible to watch football, or any sport for that matter, without beer. Am I right?

The experts are agreed on several predictions on winners this weekend; the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Jets, the New Orleans Saints, the New York Giants, the Baltimore Ravens, the Denver Broncos, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers seem to all have unanimous picks for wins by the ESPN experts. If both New York teams win, it will mean a big party in the Big Apple on Sunday night. (more…)

Hot Sandwiches: Dip or Melt?

Mmmm....French Dip!

The best thing about sandwiches is that there are so many different kinds to choose from. Let’s face it, sandwiches are very personal—just ask anyone. What’s delicious for some (peanut butter-BLT, for instance) may sound disgusting to others. When you were a kid, bologna on white with ketchup or a simple grilled cheese was probably your favorite thing ever, but now you’ve grown up a bit, and your tastes have matured.

And that’s when, sometimes, only a hot sandwich will do. But there’s days when a hot sandwich with a delicious bowl of au jus to dunk it in is the perfect meal, and then others when you want gooey, cheesy goodness melted all over that meat between two crispy pieces of bread.

Luckily, you’re a fan of Benjies Deli. They’ve got four different kinds of their Big Dip Sandwich and four different choices for their Melts (five, really. Because if you ask nicely, they’ll put a Garden™ Burger in a Melt!) (more…)
