If you’ve been waiting for Chanukah to indulge in some latkes, now is the time. We do have them every day of the week at Benjies, but now is the time to really go for it and savor those delicious potato pancakes! Why not get some pastrami too, and sandwich it between two latkes? David Sax of "Save the Deli"
It seems that the only person crazier about good Jewish deli products than us is David Sax—shown here, suavely navigating the busy streets of the New York metropolis as he balances a cell phone in one hand and a drippingly delicious pastrami on rye in the other. This guy is SERIOUS.
And guess who noticed? The folks at the James Beard Awards. His book called, unsurprisingly, Save the Deli took him across North America and Europe in search of great Jewish delis, prompted by the fact that many had fallen to the devilish trio of homogenization, assimilation and (eek!) health food concerns.
