Have an Ice Cream Sundae at Benjies New York Deli

It's summer, and time for ICE CREAM!

Finally! Summer’s here, and it’s not messing around. It’s been HOT. And there’s nothing better to cool you down than some cold ice cream.

Don’t wait for the ice-cream truck to come down your street, especially if you’ve got a day job. They rarely stop by office buildings (but hey, what a great idea!), so why not come down to Benjies New York Deli at lunch for a special treat. Have something small for lunch, like some latkes, or healthy, like a salad, and splurge on dessert.

We’ve got a lot of ice-cream drinks to choose from, including old-fashioned milkshakes served in the metal shaker (like they should be!). We also serve ice-cream sodas in chocolate, strawberry, cherry or vanilla flavors and the old favorite: a root-beer float. You can choose root beer or Coca-Cola® with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Remember having an egg cream as a kid? Well, Benjies New York Deli still makes them by hand, with milk, chocolate syrup and seltzer–is your mouth watering yet? (more…)

Angels Baseball, Pastrami Sandwiches and the NFL at Benjies Deli

Angels Baseball at Benjies Deli!

As the Angels continue their fairly unimpressive 2010 season, we can start to look forward to the upcoming football season. Preseason NFL starts August 8th so make Benjies Bamboo Lounge the spot to watch the game. You don’t have to get in a argument with your wife about buying the NFL Sunday Ticket channel, Benjies already has it. With six big screen TVs in the Bamboo Lounge come watch your favorite team play with your friends.

Also we can’t give up on the Angels’ season just yet. They still have a few more months to redeem themselves as they have in past seasons. This Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday come down to the Bamboo Lounge and watch the Angels play the struggling Boston Red Sox. Baseball fans love their hot dogs, and Benjies Deli has delicious Coney Island hot dogs, Coney Island chili dogs and the Francheesy, the most deluxe dog ever.

Or just order a few of our deli platters, like the cold cut buffet or the 16″ ring sandwich tray. With our deli platters, no one has to worry about ordering, they can just grab a sandwich while they watch their favorite team. Then again, you can always just have Benjies cater and have some people over at your house for the game. That way you can take credit for some incredible food, having not lifted a finger. It’s all about the game!!

Make sure to follow Benjies on Twitter to keep track of the weekly specials and promotions.

To experience a true, New York-style deli right here in Orange County, drive or walk directly to 1828 N. Tustin Avenue in Santa Ana.  The restaurant is open 7 days a week 7 AM – 9PM, and Karaoke is 9PM- midnight on Friday nights.

If you want to hold a private party for an event, contact Benjies Deli to reserve the Bamboo Lounge and discuss ordering food for the event. Call (714) 541-6263 and ask for Lloyd Weinstein, whether you want to book a private party or have your home event catered.

Summer’s Here! And Benjies Deli Caters For It!

Finally the summer weather has hit Southern California. This probably means that you’ll be making some beach trips, hosting pool parties, or going on picnics. These are all great opportunities to go to Benjies Deli and experience the food that made them so popular with Orange County’s public. Stop by on your way to the beach and get all the ingredients for a great beach picnic from our incredible deli counter. You’ll be the most popular one on the beach when you unwrap one of Benjies’ famous pastrami sandwiches! (That is, if you can wait til you get to the beach to eat it…!)

Having the party at your house? Call up Benjies Deli the day before to order up a few of their delicious platters. That way you won’t get stuck in the kitchen while your friends are out enjoying the great weather. Get Hot Wings or Barbeque Meatballs by the dozen—great for snacking—or choose from one of our many sandwich trays. If you’d like to have the sandwiches pre-made, try the Sandwich Platter or the 16″ Ring Sandwich. Got a Sweet Tooth? Benjies Deli Has the Cure

An ice cream sundae: what can't it fix?

If you’re old enough to remember what a soda fountain is, you’ll know that there’s not very many of them left, especially in Orange County. If you aren’t old enough to know what a soda fountain is, you’re missing out! And many people—even our regulars—don’t know that Benjies Deli is not just a deli, but it also has fountain drinks.

Got a hankering for a cherry ice cream soda? What about a root beer float? Have a classic cheeseburger with fries, accompanied by a milkshake served in the metal shaker, because we can’t fit it all in a glass.

It’s hard to save some room after one of Benjies’ triple-decker pastrami sandwiches or a plate of their famous meatloaf, but we don’t mind if you come in just for a treat. An ice cream sundae, day or night, cures anything and everything that ails you—ask any kid or adult! If a full sundae is too much, we also serve a small version, or just ice cream on it’s own for a dessert that’s delicious but not over the top.

If you don’t want an ice cream-based dessert, never fear—Benjies Deli has a wide selection of pastries, cakes and cookies that will tempt every tastebud. Pastries include eclairs, napoleons and the delectable Royal Dane, a crispy, caramel nut shell filled with buttercream and dipped in chocolate.

And if chocolate is what you’re looking for, you’re in luck. Benjies Deli offers chocolate treats from light to delight, from chocolate chip cookies to Chocolate Wipeout Cake to fudge brownies, finishing off with the decadent Brownie Delight, topped with ice cream, hot fudge, nuts and a cherry, of course.

For the nut lovers among us, try the honey-covered baklava or the wedge of halva sprinkled with nuts. But the pièce de resistance of the dessert menu is the homemade bread pudding covered in bourbon sauce and whipped cream. You’ll be kicking yourself for never trying it before!

Being the best New York-style deli in Orange County, we proudly serve cheese blintzes with sour cream and strawberry preserves. Eat them after dinner, or if you’re having a party, order a tray of mini-blintzes to tempt your guests. Another traditional favorite served from our fountain is the egg cream, a refreshing, smooth beverage hand-mixed with milk, chocolate and seltzer; and silky New York cheesecake with the option of a strawberry topping.

Don’t try to choose between all of Benjies’ delicious desserts. Just keep coming back to Benjies Deli for the next one on the menu. Or just eat dessert on every visit! As they say, life is uncertain—eat dessert first…
